How To Stage Your Home On A Budget

Blog

While staging your home is an important part of selling your home, it can get out of hand and expensive if you aren't careful. You can stage your home on a budget by just changing a few things and deep cleaning your home. See below for tips on how to stage your home room by room without breaking the bank.

Living Spaces

Living rooms and recreational spaces should be kept clean and tidy. Take out picture frames of your little ones and family photos to keep these areas as neutral as possible. Someone looking at your home wants to picture themselves and their things in your home; it's more difficult when they're staring at pictures from your family vacation all over your walls.

Storage Areas And Closets

To make your closets and storage areas appear bigger, take out about half of what you have in them. This means clothes you have hanging up and shoes at the bottom of your closets should be cut in half. Store the rest in a storage unit or at a friend's home for a little while. To also make your closets look more luxurious, take out those ugly wire hangers and swap them out for matching wooden hangers. You can also use matching storage boxes to store smaller items in your closet.

Bedroom

You may love the cutesy pink walls in your young daughter's bedroom, but a potential buyer may not like the color scheme for their son. Try and keep bedroom paint colors as neutral as possible. Repainting bedroom walls won't cost you a lot of money, especially if you paint them yourself. You should also take out things like office equipment and televisions to keep bedrooms looking like bedrooms. This will also help to make bedrooms appear larger.

Bathroom

Clean, clean, clean all of the bathrooms in your home. Clean baseboards, remove moldy or mildew-covered caulk in showers and tub surrounds and replace with new caulk. Be sure to clean shower doors and invest in a new shower curtain. Clean the walls in your bedrooms as well to get rid of dust. To make your bathrooms feel larger and luxurious, add new fluffy white towels.

Kitchen

Deep clean your kitchen as well, and be sure to get rid of all dirty dishes and empty the dishwasher (even if the dishes are clean). Wipe down cabinets and all surfaces. To get rid of hard water stains around the sink and faucet, use a mixture of white vinegar and water. Scrub your stove-top clean with baking soda and water. Get rid of those refrigerator magnets and clear your counters of nearly everything to maximize space. Take off those old brass knobs and replace them with updated nickel or chrome knobs and drawer pulls.

Home staging may help you sell your home faster and it doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg; it just takes a little more elbow grease, but it'll be worth it.

By using their services, you can create a home that has everything you need--without having to worry about it staying that way.
